History of Reggae Sumfest Jamaica

Reggae Sumfest was first held in Montego Bay, Jamaica, in 1993, replacing Reggae Sunsplash. Reggae Sumfest is regarded as the world's greatest reggae music festival. Sumfest attracts millions from around the world each year and visitors come as far away as the African continent, Europe, Japan, Australia and the USA. Reggae Sumfest not only features reggae artists, but also jazz, hip hop, pop and rhythm and blues as well. The festival is usually held the 3rd week of July each year and is customarily kicked off on Sunday with a beach party at the Aquasol Theme Park located on the Walter Fletcher Beach Complex. There is an all-white party held on Tuesday followed by Dancehall Night on Thursday then International Nights on Friday and Saturday at the Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex. This year, Reggae Sumfest will be held from July 13 - 19 and includes performers such as, Tessanne Chin (Season 5 winner of The Voice), Wiz Khalifa, R.Kelly and Trey Songz.
